Psychological/ Psycho-educational assessments for children and adolescents

A psychological/psycho-educational assessment provides an estimate of a young person’s cognitive abilities, together with a measure of their educational achievement to date. In addition, levels of attention, emotional, behavioural and adaptive functioning may also be taken, depending on the reason for referral.

Assessment services provided:

  • Assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Specific Speech and Language Impairment)
  • Assessments for General Learning Difficulties (Mild, Moderate and Severe)
  • Screening for Attention Deficit Disorder/ Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ ADHD)
  • Screening for Social, Emotional, Behavioural difficulties (SEBD)
  • Screening for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
  • Screening for Anxiety, Inattention and Motivational difficulties
  • Assessment of 2nd level students seeking reasonable accommodations in state examinations (RACE)
  • Assessment of 2nd level students seeking to avail of the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE)

Additional services provided:

  • Anxiety, self-esteem, social skills and behavioural interventions
  • In-service training for teachers and SNAs who work with students with ASD, ADHD and SEBD
